“Dumb and Dumber” Sequel Officially Dropped by Warner Bros.

Dumb and Dumber

It has been a long, twisting road for the development of the proper sequel to 1994’s Dumb and Dumber. Word was first released in late 2011 that the Farrelly Brothers were considering a second installment of the adventures of Harry and Lloyd, and in April 2012, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels confirmed that they were on board for the film. In June of last year, Carrey pulled out of the project — by then officially titled Dumb and Dumber To — but was once again attached to the project by September, when the Farrelly Brothers announced that the script was complete and filming would begin in 2013.

Unfortunately, according to a new article in Variety, Warner Bros. has chosen to not move forward with the project. Of course, this doesn’t yet mean that the sequel is dead. New Line has said in the past that they may take the film elsewhere if Warner Bros. were to drop out. So now we play the waiting game. (via Under the Gun)
