Dropkick Murphys Announce New Album Featuring Bruce Springsteen

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

Boston‘s own Dropkick Murphys are set to release their seventh full-length studio album entitled Going Out In Style on March 1st. The record will be released on the Murphys’ label Born & Bred Records , and will again feature the group’s signature blend of punk, folk, Celtic, and American rock ‘n roll. The highlight of the album stands to be a rendition of “Peg O’ My Heart” featuring guest vocals by the Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen, who swaps vocals with Ken Casey.

“It has a classic old fifties rock and roll feel,” says Casey.  “Both of my grandmothers are named Peg. One grandmother, Peg Casey, is always saying, ‘When are you going to do that song? Your grandfather always sang it to me!’ The time signature changed, so hopefully they still appreciate it when they hear it.”

The Murphys will hit the road February 23rd to launch their annual St. Patrick’s Day tour, featuring Against Me! as support on most dates. The tour ends up in Boston for the band’s run of St. Patty’s Day week hometown gigs.
