Top Shelf Productions, 40 pages, paperback, $9.95

A short little story book that tells the tale of the mighty Dragon Puncher, a tall warrior with the face of the author’s cat. On his quest to find a dragon to punch, he trips over Spoony-E, a small hairy imp with the face of James Kochalka’s three-year-old son. Spoony-E is determined to aid the Dragon Puncher with the help of his wooden spoon; however, the Dragon Puncher believes that dragon-fighting is no sport for a youngster. While the Dragon Puncher is busy reprimanding the poor creature, he doesn’t notice the large dragon with Kochalka’s face creeping up behind him. And so the battle begins. Despite the title, this book contains no real violence. Adding in Kochalka’s unique sense of humor, it’s the perfect story to read to your kids over and over again. Even an older audience will appreciate the creative mix of cartoons and photography.
