Dick Clark

Host and TV producer Dick Clark, “The World’s Oldest Teenager,” has died at the age of 82. According to spokesman Paul Shefrin, the “American Bandstand” creator had a heart attack Wednesday morning at Saint John’s hospital in Santa Monica, California, a day after he was admitted for an outpatient procedure.

He founded Dick Clark Productions, and his television credits included “The $25,000 Pyramid” and “TV’s Bloopers and Practical Jokes,” as well as hosting the American Music Awards  and “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.”  His stroke in December 2004 forced him to miss his annual appearance on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” though he returned the following year.

Clark was twice divorced. He had a son, Richard Augustus II, with first wife Barbara Mallery and two children, Duane and Cindy, with second wife Loretta Martin. He married his third wife, Kari Wigton, in 1977.
