Death Alley "Black Magick Boogieland"When was the last time you kicked out the jams, motherfucker?

It’s been a while, and frankly, we’re a little concerned. You’ve been spending too much time with all types of droney, atmospheric post-metal. Frankly, it’s made you a little dull and boring. Luckily, we have an album that will cure this little funk of yours.

The debut from Amsterdam-based hell-raisers Death Alley will definitely do the trick. It features eight tracks of primo punked-up proto-metal that will get your blood pumping.

“Over Under” opens the proceedings with energy and attitude to spare. The title track is high-speed boogie rock, living up to its name. “The Fever” and “Dead Man’s Bones” merge the speed of Motorhead with the guitars of the MC5. “Golden Fields Of Love” slows it down just a bit, but knows when to crank it right back up when the time is right. “Bewildered Eyes” and “The Fever” are high-impact slices of action rock.

They end the album with “Supernatural Predator,” a 12-minute epic that starts fast, breaks down into spaced-out psyche jamming from guitarist Oeds Beydals, and finishes up back where it started, with all instruments firing off. Beydals is the MVP of this album, firing out all types of hot riffs and blazing solos that give this album extra bite. In addition, the songs are memorable and arranged for maximum impact.

So, put down that pretentiously dull album, crack open a can of your favorite adult beverage, and get down with the sounds this album is laying down.
