A Fourth Person Has Died From Injuries Sustained During the 2014 SXSW Crash

On March 12, 2014, a man drove his car through a crowd at SXSW while try to evade police. Two people were dead on the scene, and more than 20 were injured. A third person later died, and now, a fourth person has passed due to injuries incurred during the tragedy.

A fourth person who was injured in a massive South by Southwest festival crash has died, according to Austin police.

DeAndre Tatum, 18, of Forth Worth died from his injuries at University Medical Center Brackenridge on Thursday morning. He was among the nearly two dozen victims hurt when police said 21-year-old Rashad Owens plowed through a crowd of people on Red River Street while attempting to flee officers on March 13.

Jamie West, a 27-year-old from Austin, 35-year-old Steven Craenmehr from the Netherlands and 26-year-old Sandy Thuy Le of Austin also were killed.

Owens remains in the Travis County Jail charged with capital murder with bail set at $3 million. A grand jury will determine whether Owens will be charged with additional crimes, police said.
