Dave Grohl drumming for Nirvana

Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic have been doing the rounds with the press recently regarding the release of the  In Utero 20th Anniversary Edition, and the results have been quite good. A couple weeks ago, Grohl and Novoselic stopped by for an interview on NPR’s “All Songs Considered” to share memories of working with engineer Steve Albini, and released some of rare bonus tracks on the new release. And now, a new interview with Grohl has appeared on RollingStone.com with further insights on songwriting, the making of In Utero, and his final interactions with Cobain before his tragic death.

I called Kurt after Rome. [In March, 1994, during a European tour, Cobain overdosed on pills and alcohol in a hotel in Rome. Nirvana returned to Seattle, where Cobain died a month later.] I said, “Hey, man, that really scared everybody. And I don’t want you to die.”
