July 7, 2013 is the 20th anniversary of the tragic death of Mia Zapata, lead singer of The Gits. That night, the Comet Tavern in Seattle, Zapata’s favorite bar and the last place she was seen alive, will host a night of remembrance, featuring 11 local bands and performers covering Gits songs. The bands include Triple Sixes, Wiscon, Werebearcat!, Greenriver Thrillers, Power Skeleton, Vile Display of Humanity, Chosen Enemies, Spit in the Well, Buffaloes, Hymen, and Christina Cramer of In Cahoots.

The $7 cover charge will be donated to nonprofit Seven Star Women’s Kung Fu. Doors are at 9 PM.
