Mad Season

Mike McCready and Barrett Martin, the two surviving members of the 1990s grunge super-group Mad Season, will reunite for a one-off performance in Seattle at 8 p.m. on January 30, 2015. According to The Seattle Times, the pair will team up with Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell and Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, along with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, in performing orchestral and solo arrangements of original Mad Season works.

Cornell will be stepping in for vocalist Layne Staley, who died in 2002 of a drug overdose, while McKagan will be performing in place of John Baker Saunders, who also died of an overdose three years earlier, in 1999.

The event is part of the Seattle Symphony’s fourth annual cross-genre Sonic Evolution concert. It is the first performance McCready and Martin have performed under the Mad Season banner since 1995, years before the deaths of their fallen band mates. (via CoS)
