CFCF – Continent

reviewed by Garrett Lyons | Monday, January 4th, 2010

ContinentEver have a dream where you were stuck in an elevator in the movie Tron and wondered to yourself what kind of music would be playing in the elevator? No? Really? Well then, don’t listen to CFCF. This Montreal electro artist’s album Continent is like watered down LCD Soundsystem. It has all sorts of loops and ’80s sound effects that produce a chill-out trance sound that basically makes listening to Yanni into a high-energy experience. “Big Love” is the only real solid track on the album, and the rest just falls into the electro abyss of loops on top of loops on top of the same beat through the whole album. You can listen to this album and not realize that the entire album is over before it loops back on itself. It’s not terrible, but it’s really not worth a listen unless low-tempo electro with the finest array of synth sounds of the ’80s is your thing.
