Brendan Majewski of Quix*o*tic, Orphan Dies

Friday, February 4th, 2011

The Daily Swarm reports that Brendan Majewski, former bassist of the now-defunct DC art punk band Quix*o*tic, took his own life on January 20th. He was 37 years old.

Though Majewski gained fame as the bassist during the bulk of Quix*o*tic’s four-year run — he was with the band from 1998 to 2001; they disbanded in 2002 — he also played in the metal band Orphan with drummer Speck Brown.

Quix*o*tic was formed by Mira Billotte (White Magic) and her sister Christina (Bratmobile, Autoclave, Slant 6).  Below is my all-time favorite Quix*o*tic tune, a cover of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles “What’s So Good About Goodbye?”
