Last night, vocalis Cedric Bixler-Zavala announced that The Mars Volta has broken up. During his lengthy announcement via Twitter, he mentioned, “I tried my hardest to keep it going, but Bosnian Rainbows was what we all got instead,” referring to his former band mate Omar Rodriguez-Lopez‘s new project.
Bosnian Rainbows features one-time Mars Volta drummer Deantoni Parks, keyboardist Nicci Kasper, and Le Butcherettes front woman Teri Gender Bender, who previously collaborated with Rodriguez-Lopez on his Octopus Kool Aid LP.
