Together They Form “Tobecko”

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Tom Fec — i.e., “Tobacco” — has a new album dropping May 25th on anticon entitled Maniac Meat. The lone guest contributor on the album is Beck, and the track has been made available for free download.  The brief, minute-and-a-half-long track, “Fresh Hex,” hearkens back to early-’90s Beck: “alliterative, free-associative rap.” Interestingly, Tobacco has revealed that he and Beck exchanged parts for songs via email, and never actually met in person.

As for Tobacco, you may or may not know him as the frontman of Black Moth Super Rainbow, an electronic group that utilizes mostly pre-digital analog equipment. His Myspace page is here. Check it out. I mean, electronic/indie/dance kind of music is either your thing, or it’s not. Either way, you can’t go wrong collaborating with Beck.
