Beastie Boys

As reported by NME, the Beastie Boys have a trove of unreleased songs that date far back into the band’s career. Producer Mario C, who worked on four Beastie Boys albums in the 1990s, stated there is plenty of material that could be released in the future.

“There’s a handful of extra stuff from each record apart from ‘Paul’s Boutique’,” Mario C says. “I actually went through it all recently and checked out a few things that weren’t used for Hello Nasty and there’s definitely two or three tracks that didn’t get utilized that could be utilized.

“We’ll take it slowly,” he continues. “No-one’s thinking of doing anything right away. It’s too soon.”

Beastie Boys member Adam “MCA” Yauch died on May 4, 2012 due to cancer. Mike D previously stated that he and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz recorded with Yauch shortly before his death.

“The guys told me that he wanted to record,” said Mario C. “So they hung out and did what they used to do: just lay it down and have fun.”
