May 15th will see the release of Avengers, a double-CD anthology of released and unreleased studio recordings, demos, live tracks, outtakes, and alternate mixes from the Avengers. The Avengers were a seminal San Francisco punk band of the late ’70s, featuring vocalist Penelope Houston, guitarist Greg Ingraham, bassist Jimmy Wilsey, and drummer Danny Furious. The band formed in San Francisco in 1977 and broke up in 1979, after Ingraham had already left. A three-song EP was released in 1977; their sole LP (produced by ex-Sex Pistol Steve Jones) didn’t appear until 1983.
