ANGELS IN THE ARCHITECTURE – The Distance in Writing

This is a solid 10-track release.  Angels in the Architecture play vigorous rock n’ roll-driven indie-pop with substantial emo appeal; a band with a very “polished” sound (to quote the info sheet) that a label such as Deep Elm would no doubt like to get their hands on.  Though I don’t feel this release has quite the dynamics or the catchiness of their listed bands of influence (such as Jawbox or Sunny Day Real Estate), it kept me engaged right up through the last song — which, I might add is my favorite.  I guarantee anyone who hears track ten, “Rare Visions,” will be drawn towards this album.  Beautiful stuff.  My mixtapes will benefit from this CD, and I look forward to future releases.
