Hanalei is a one-man project by Brian Moss. His new album, One Big Night, is his first full-length solo release in four years. Although he played in the Chicago-by-way-of-Berkeley post-punk outfit The Ghost for many years and currently plays in the blisteringly loud San Francisco- and Oakland-based outfit Olehole, Hanalei continues to be his outlet for quieter, stripped down material.

In 2003, We Are All Natural Disasters was released on Thick Records and three years later Parts and Accessories followed. One Big Night is a co-release between Big Scary Monsters (a UK-based label that’s recently opened up a states based chapter) and startup Brick Gun Records. The album was released June 1st; Moss played and sang every note and recorded and mixed the entire album by himself in various apartments and workplaces using nothing more than one internal laptop microphone.
