The Mars Volta – Amputechture: I was blessed with a wealthy patron/protector, and with a part of his patronage I advertised for 6 months in JUXTAPOZ magazine. The ads came and went, and in 6 months nothing happened. I was horrified, $5K blown. So after 8 months, there was an email from TMV management \”How about the Big Mutant with TMV?\” I\’d heard about them, but had never heard them. I jumped down to the record store and picked up Comatorium, Frances, and also Scab Dates. I came home, loved the music, and it sure got better!  Later on I was talking to Cedric about how they found me, and it was JUXTAPOZ. Cedric was the one who saw me first. A rare instance of advertising really working out.
