Olympia, WA’s humble all-ages club Northern was one of the stops on Mirah’s national tour in support of her lovely new album Changing Light. Mirah told the silent, rapt fans that packed the small venue, “You win the quiet contest!” There was no chatter in-between songs, and most concert-goers sat on the concrete floor for the duration of the show, wide-eyed and cross-legged like it was story time. The singer remarked a couple of times that it felt like she was playing in her living room. I especially loved that Alex Guy joined Mirah’s band for the night (or is she there all tour?) — her viola really ads a gorgeous touch to Mirah’s songs. Among the photos of Mirah and her band you’ll find a pic of Erica Freas of RVIVR who opened up the show with a gorgeous, intimate solo set.
