At the very least, this is a nice but deficient solo effort on the part of Anti-Flag front man, Justin Sane. At its best, it is reminiscent of folk-punk storytellers such as Mike Ness or Billy Bragg. I’m a bit torn, but I’ll have to say I’m leaning towards the former. I usually enjoy singer-songwriter music, with just a vocalist strumming a guitar, but Sane’s political motives, nasally vocals, and songwriting style are best taken with a backing band.

I’d have to say Justin is at his best with contemplative tracks such as “On the Street Tonight,” “61C Days Turned To Nights,” and “Cassette Deck, Road Trip, Grand Canyon,” the lone acoustic song, despite the fact that Justin is pictured on the album cover strumming an acoustic guitar. If Justin Sane ever does another solo album, I really hope he does more acoustic songs; in the meantime I’ll just listen to that one track and wait.
