MEMORYHOUSE – The Years

reviewed by Garrett Lyons | Friday, October 7th, 2011

Toronto-based duo Memoryhouse’s new EP The Years is a collection of mellow electronica filled with layers of delicate vocals and soft instrumentation. That’s pretty much all you need to know. Unlike their sonic cousins Braids, Memoryhouse shows a complete lack of dynamism, making a completely unremarkable record. The EP drones through five mellow tracks that do accomplish their apparent goal of being unobtrusive background noise for a sleep disorder clinic. Yes it’s well done, but it’s nothing that stands out from the mess of atmospheric bands. It merely exists.
