“20 Questions With Verbicide” is an interview series in which an artist is handed a list of more than 100 questions and they select 20 from the list they would like to answer.

To the delight of many, the original lineup of Washington, DC-based hardcore legends Dag Nasty have reunited — and this means the return of vocalist Shawn Brown. The group — also featuring guitarist Brian Baker, bassist Roger Marbury, and drummer Colin Sears —  recorded two new songs in December of 2015 at Inner Ear Studios with Don Zientara and Ian MacKaye. The recording session marked the first time that this lineup entered the studio together since October 1985, almost exactly 30 years prior.

The tracks will be released on May 20, 2016 as the “Cold Heart” seven-inch single by Dischord Records. The band is touring Europe throughout April 2016 (full dates below) and will appear at Punk Rock Bowling in Las Vegas, Nevada, in May. Brown took the time to play “20 Questions With Verbicide” during some time off on the band’s European tour.

What was the best day of your life?

Meeting my wife Michelle.

Ever bought anything from a late-night infomercial?

No.

Describe your perfect smoothie.

Banana, blueberry, hempseed, cannabis tincture, and hemp milk. Relaxing!

What is your favorite live album?

Loves me some Turbonegro — Darkness Forever! is one of many that comes to mind.

What has been the biggest disappointment in your career?

No regrets, no disappointment.

Did you prefer life prior to the internet and cell phones and social media, or do you think we’re better for it?

Life before the internet. Too much typing the days — and eye fatigue!

How long did your longest bout of constipation last?

Not long! I try to avoid that! Greens, yo!

In your opinion, what’s one way people can work towards making the world a better place?

Forgiveness and humility.

How many states have you been to?

Let’s say I’ve traveled both coasts and seen some of the middle.

If you could only appear on one late-night television show, which would it be?

The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.

Apples or bananas?

Both!

Where is your ideal vacation spot?

The California coast.

What is your favorite holiday?

I don’t really have one.

Choose but only one: a sweet, slightly salty Gruyère; creamy Camembert; or slow-smoked sharp cheddar, aged three years.

What defunct band or deceased performer would you have loved to have seen, but won’t be able to?

Jimi Hendrix.

Run the Jewels.

Paper books.

Florida before Cali.
