Garrett Dale

20 Questions With Verbicide” is an interview series in which an artist is handed a list of more than 100 questions and they select 20 from the list they would like to answer.

Oklahoma City’s Garrett Dale, guitarist and lead vocalist of Red City Radio, has just released his solo debut EP, Two Ts EP, via Red Scare Industries. Before heading out on a summer 2017 tour with The Flatliners on July 7th (full dates below), Dale took the time for 20 Questions With Verbicide.

What is your favorite musical act of the 1990s?

This is the hardest question I have ever had to answer. But I’m going to have to go with Smashmouth… wait, Everclear. No, Sugar Ray. Okay, probably Fastball. Third Eye Blind? Definitely, definitely Third Eye Blind. But probably Wu Tang Clan.

If you could only appear on one late-night television show, which would it be?

Space Ghost!

Where is your ideal vacation spot?

I’ve never been to a beach resort or a cool island party or nothin’, but it sounds awesome! I love goin’ to Vegas, but I think mostly ’cause the bars don’t close. So…a beach where the bars don’t close. Where’s that?

What is your favorite holiday?

Halloween. If you dress up like Macho Man Randy Savage you are not allowed to break character. It’s just the perfect time with the best decorations. Fuck Christmas.

Which city draws the best crowds for your shows?

I don’t know, we’ve never asked them to draw for us! Hahaha, get it? Get it? With like a pencil? No? In America: Chicago, Denver, New York City, Boston, Austin, Oklahoma City, Seattle, Atlanta. Bigger cities, I guess. I don’t know though, I only answered this question to get that joke in. Can you blame me?

Ryan Reynolds or Bradley Cooper?

Ryan Reynolds. Have you seen Just Friends?

Which antivirus do you use on your computer?

I do not own a computer, but I do have a lot of action figures.

When you die, do you want to be buried, cremated, or stuffed and mounted?

Being a Highlander makes answering this question difficult…

What is the greatest live band you’ve ever seen?

I once saw a band called Monotonix and they blew me the fuck away. Bootsy Collins was also a highlight and Less Than Jake will always be a favorite. Seeing Against Me! during the Eternal Cowboy tour was life-changing for sure.

Which band or performer would you love to see, but haven’t yet?

Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, Funkadelic, DEVO, Charles Bradley, and I’m sure a lot more.

What defunct band or deceased performer would you have loved to have seen, but won’t be able to?

Ramones, Operation Ivy, Pantera, Outkast, and Otis Redding…this list could get very long.

Iron Maiden or Megadeth?

After recently seeing Iron Maiden, I choose them. Holy shit they rock. Megadeth is great…this is a hard question. “Hangar 18” is undeniable. “Holy Wars” is possibly my favorite metal song. Fuck it: both.

How many times have you visited Disneyland and/or Disney World? What is your favorite attraction?

I went to Euro Disney once as a kid with my parents. I remember it being tight, but I was pretty young though. Maybe I should go back! I recently went on a roller coaster again and it was scary. Just sayin’.

What was the first album you ever bought? What format was it in? Do you still have it?

Kriss Kross Totally Krossed Out. On tape! Used to jam it on my Walkman! It’s long gone by now, Jack. But believe me…I am listening to that right now, hahaha.

How many pillows do you use?

Two on the road and four at home. Treat yo’ self.

Playstation or Xbox? (Or Nintendo Wii U FTW).

PlayStation…but I’m not a gamer. Can I choose Nintendo 64 or Super Nintendo?

What is your favorite video game?

For N64: Bomberman, NFL Blitz, GoldenEye, Super Smash TV. Classic wrestling games are way kick ass too. Marvel vs. Capcom is also kickass… Mario? Zelda? Too many to name! It’s like the ’90s groups all over again…did I mention Salt-N-Pepa earlier? Gotta put them on the list.

What is your favorite film of all time?

Eddie and the Cruisers. Not Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives! That movie super sucks.

Which social media site do you use/like the most? How can people find/follow you?

Instagram. Find me @garrettdale on the ‘gram. I mostly use that for everything. On Facebook and Twitter I’m @GarrettDaleRCR.

What is your best piece of advice for aspiring artists?

Don’t over think it, kid. Play with your heart, go with your gut, and don’t let anyone stop you from being who you are.
