Rage Against the Machine – “In My Eyes”

On their 2000 covers album Renegades, Rage Against the Machine elected to perform “In My Eyes” — not an unusual pick, considering Zach de la Rocha’s past involvement in straight edge band Hardstance and hardcore punk band Inside Out, who released the full-length album No Spiritual Surrender in 1990 on Revelation Records.

NOFX – “Straight Edge”

A band with a legendary history of drug use, NOFX nevertheless performed a jazzy cover of “Straight Edge” (with El Hefe singing in a Louie Armstrong voice) on the 1992 album White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean.

Rise Against – “It Follows”

While not really bringing anything new to this track, Rise Against manage to pull of an accurate recreation of the original rendition.

Ted Leo – “Look Back and Laugh”

Here’s an unlikely cover courtesy of Ted Leo and his invisible band.

Suicide Machines – “I Don’t Wanna Hear It”

I never thought I’d want to hear ska-core again in my life, but The Suicide Machines quick one-minute tribute to Minor Threat on their 1996 debut album Destruction By Definition isn’t bad at all.
